ABOUT

My interest in photography started as a young boy. Using my trusty 35mm Flash Fujika, I would photograph my finished model kits, or create vast battle scenes with my Airfix soldiers and photograph from a low angle, complete with smoke and flames. Some of the resulting images still survive. Many of the soldiers do not.

Times change, and as a professional photographer, I specialised initially in Theatre and Film photography: Production and Rehearsal Shots, behind the scenes stills. Over 20 years later I still love to do these shoots. Film sets are so....photogenic.

However, my creative work has often taken me in directions I wasn’t expecting. The human form has always fascinated me. I like to photograph real people, not perfect models. Enthusiasm and openness are always photogenic, and I am constantly grateful for all those who have collaborated in my imagery. If you’re enthusiastic and would like to volunteer, then I’m always happy to hear from you!

My photography continues to evolve and – I hope – improve. Some people may call it a job, but to be honest...it’s better than working for a living.

In days gone by...
I wasn't always a professional photographer, but I've always been lucky enough to do what I enjoy as my work. Over the years I have been a Radio Presenter with the BBC, a musician in a Soul and Blues band, an Actor and a Theatre Director. Indeed, it was my involvement with Theatre which led me back to my boyhood love of Photography. Seeing how much actors were overcharged for their publicity headshots, I thought I'd train to do it myself. I had to do the training alongside my professional theatre work. After all, the bills still needed to be paid...but I got there in the end, and Theatrical and Film Photography remains an important part of my work. I'll never be rich...but it's a great way to stay poor.
